These exhibits range from mind-blowing photos, to unique (and occasionally terrifying) items, to anything you can imagine. The Ripley’s Believe It or Not in Times Square features over 20 exhibit rooms, all of which have different themes and showcase different items. It is laid out like a museum, and you go through a self-guided tour through the many rooms. However, simply viewing exhibits isn’t all that Ripley’s is about.
One of the key features of the Ripley’s Believe It or Not in Times Square is the Black Hole room. This room boasts the ability to make one lose all concept of space and time. Groups go into a surreal room designed specifically to distort one’s concept of time and space, with its unusual layout and trippy light scheme. The Black Hole remains one of the most popular attractions of the Times Square venue.
Ripley’s features a unique game called Laserace, wherein you are placed in a dark room and shot at by lasers. The goal is to avoid the lasers at all costs, and prevent them from hitting you. It’s similar to laser tag, but instead of there being two distinct teams fighting against each other, you’re being hunted by an unknown, unseen third party.
New York has always been a big baseball state. After all, the Baseball Hall of Fame is located in the state. New York City has no shortage of baseball history, either. At Ripley’s there is an extensive baseball exhibit featuring the many mind-blowing accolades of such famous New York athletes as Babe Ruth, Joe Dimaggio, and many more.
When it comes to unique, surreal, and mind-blowing experiences, Ripley’s Believe It or Not has the market quite cornered. Not only are there hundreds of bizarre items on display, but there are interactive exhibits and unconventional games to be played as well.
